It’s hard to believe that Valve will ever release Half-Life 3. That doesn’t mean people should skip Half-Life content though, as the dynamic duo of Corey Laddo(Opens in a new window) and Shawn Snelling(Opens in a new window) plan to prove it with the release of a mod called Half-Life Alyx: Levitation this year.
The duo announced Levitation, which is supposed to add around 50% more content to the VR installment of the Half-Life series that Valve released in 2020, back in April. Now they’ve shown gameplay footage as part of this year’s installment of the PC Gaming Show.
The images, which were captured by “EchoSmoker(Opens in a new window)“, supposedly depicts “7 minutes of smooth, uncut gameplay footage from one of the chapters of LEVITATION: Dig Deep.” That seems like an apt description – gameplay would be fantastic even if developed by a team more important.
It’s not an entirely two-person effort. Lado said(Opens in a new window) PCGamer “there’s not a ton of [documentation] there for Source 2, unlike Source, so we got some much appreciated help from talented modders within the Source 2 community with regards to troubleshooting.

All of this work will culminate in a free mod for Half-Life: Alyx which is expected to hit the Steam Workshop in the third quarter of this year, Laddo says, in hopes that “the average gamer” will enjoy a 4-5 hour additional content for the approximately 12 hour game.
